Film Review: Inkwo For When the Starving Return
“They say that unless there is snow on the ground, you should never speak the name of the wheetago out loud. Fortunately, despite it being pretty warm here in Banff right now, we’ve had more snowfall this winter than we’ve seen in decades, so I reckon I’m safe to talk about Amanda Strong’s latest project, Inkwo For When The Starving Return… for the moment at least.
Strong, who we recently featured in our Spotlight on Metis Filmmakers, makes stop motion short films that combine a variety of artistic mediums, including puppetry and sculpture. In 2010 she started Spotted Fawn Productions, the studio through which she has released all of her subsequent work. Her 2018 film Biidaaban (The Dawn Comes), won Best Script and received an honourable mention from the Best Canadian Animation jury at the Ottawa International Animation Festival.
